Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC) is a non-ionic cellulose ether widely used in construction materials, daily chemical products, pharmaceuticals, and food industries. It offers multiple functions such as thickening, water retention, film formation, and suspension stabilization.

1. Basic Properties

  • Appearance: White or off-white powder

  • Solubility: Soluble in cold water; insoluble in hot water and most organic solvents

  • pH Stability: Stable performance within pH 4–11

  • Eco-friendliness: Non-toxic, odorless, and biodegradable

2. Key Features

  1. Excellent water retention to extend open time and improve construction quality

  2. Good thickening ability to enhance adhesion and workability of mortar and coatings

  3. Stable anti-sagging performance for tile adhesives and plaster mortars

  4. Easy dispersion and quick dissolution during production

  5. Good film-forming ability for smooth and protective surface layers in coatings and personal care products

3. Main Applications

  • Construction: Tile adhesive, wall putty, self-leveling mortar, EIFS, etc.
